PC Barcode Reader
A barcode is kind of encrypted information of a product; the barcode offers all the information about the product right from its price to its manufacture date etc. and all this information can be accessed instantly with the help of a barcode reader. There are different barcode readers available in the market some use laser technology while others use cameras to read the information in the barcode. Barcodes are vertical lines with numbers and only the reader or the scanner can decode the information about the particular product. Barcode readers have become a must for people dealing in logistics as well as at the checkpoints in supermarkets. People dealing in the distribution of things also heavily rely on the barcode reader to correctly identify the attributes of the product or the thing that is to be delivered. The PDA barcode scanner or reader is the most efficient barcode reader today because organizes the data with the user's personal needs which eliminates the need to carry many more electronic equipments with the user. The scanned data can be put on the PC of the user for which he needs to have certain programmes to read the data that has been scanned by the barcode reader.
How to import the scanned data in the PC?
Almost all the application programmes support the reading of the barcode. The barcode readers give two types of output one is the keyboard wedge output and the other one is the RS232 output. The keyboard wedge output can be directly connected to the keyboard port in the PC and the keyboard of the PC can as well be connected to the PC with the help of the pigtail connector to the user's PC. The benefit of the keyboard wedge output is that if the user scans or reads the barcode the information gets imported to the PC directly as if the user is typing the information on to the PC and for this process to happen the application program must support the acceptance of the keyboard data. The problem with the keyboard wedge output is that when the user swipes the barcode the cursor needs to be in the right input field. Another limited use of the process is that once the data has been set to receive by the program the information cannot be changed at all. Thus making important changes like date, and time is not possible in the keyboard wedge output.
